Early risers may choose to observe the traditional morning alms-giving ceremony, when saffron-robed monks walk through the streets receiving offerings from local residents.
This optional experience usually takes place around dawn. Visitors should dress respectfully, maintain an appropriate distance and observe the ceremony quietly if not participating.
You may also explore the local morning market before returning to your hotel for breakfast.
After breakfast, begin your cultural sightseeing with a visit to the former Royal Palace, now the National Museum, where collections connected to the former Lao royal family are displayed.
Continue to Wat Visoun, an important historic temple, followed by Wat Aham and beautiful Wat Xieng Thong, celebrated for its elegant traditional Lao architecture.
Visit Wat Mai and learn more about local Buddhist traditions and the role of monasteries in Luang Prabang.
Later, climb the steps to the summit of Phousi Hill for panoramic views over Luang Prabang, the Mekong River, Nam Khan River and surrounding forested hills.
Enjoy free time after the scheduled sightseeing.
